I haven’t updated tumbeer in many moons. Something something this new job takes all my time.
I advise you to get your hands on New Glarus Serendipity (and a fake mustache) asap.

Mother Earth Old Neighborhood Oatmeal Porter
I find this at the back of my fridge, completely alone and forgotten. Its old and has started to turn with a strange tartness, but it’s pretty good. Chewy oats and malt, super rich mouthfeel. The Mild roast, milk chocolate, tootsie roll and brown sugar make me want to drink this with a piece of chocolate cake. But I’m fresh out. Mother Earth makes drinkable beer.
BigLobo (BA) hooked it up with some Minnesota goodness. He packed it up with a pair of baby snow pants…real creepy.
‘89 Cantillon Brabantaie
So good. Super musty (think opening up a box of clothes in your grandma’s attic), stinky cheese, tangy barrel, apple cider vinegar and lemon zest. While this does have some oxidization, it doesn’t bother me whatsoever. It feels old when you’re drinking it; cool experience.
The sediment at the bottom of the bottle was pretty gnarly, but nowhere near as ridiculous as the cap.
2011 BCBS
When this came out back in January, it was perfect. Easily the best “fresh” vintage of BCBS I’ve had. It was ready to drink, loaded up with chocolate and barrel complexity. Then they waited ~6 months to release the second wave (draft only) and it’s a bit muddled now. I can’t complain too much because even as it is, it’s pretty goddamn good, but WHY YOU WAIT 6 MONTHS GOOSE ISLAND? Probably A-B’s fault. World of Beer kicked a keg in 7 minutes.
Alpine Duet
So fresh and so clean, clean - the hops are chewy, I love it. the mouthfeet is crisp and on the dry end. It’s tropical; a nice even grapefruit bitterness blends in with lemon peel and grass. Also pinecones. Though minimal, there is a cracker and caramel malt profile to even the hops out. The hops are king, but this is somewhat balanced. Keep doing what you do, California.
